The lighting is not the best at ten to 6am, but I like this time of the day. The house is quietest at this time of the day, with only happy and cute little birds chirping outside. Aaaaah, where’s my hot chocolate…

I did a wee bit of planting too, and installed three mini terarriums under the stairs. They catch the first ray of light during the day, and yet won’t scorch as the day pass…because of their position.

Summer-propriate

I don’t usually do outfit post, and this won’t happen often, so bear with the quality of my fashion posing. I’m an interior blogger, not a fashion model. ^o^

Some of you who knows me well in SL knows that I will wear an outfit to death, and way past it’s season and prime, when I am travelling the grid collecting prefabs and home knick knacks.

For weeks now, I have been wearing this outfit. Making me look like a severe headmistress who just so happens to wear gothic-style studded boots (all the better to kick you ass with, dear).

Headmistress Zee thinks your priority should be your education and behaviour in Zee School, and therefore Headmistress Zee have set the example of not accessorizing and wearing any blings.

It’s summer here in SL, although I don’t feel very summery here in cold Southern Hemisphere. It’s the start of winter around my side of the world. So I thought it’s high time that I change outfit to go with the SL-wide season change.

Reminiscing Dokodemodoa

Bunni recently covered D!va freebies inworld…and spotted D!va’s Anywhere Door on the upper floor leading to the secret attic, which leads you to another freebie.

I have been to D!va so many times and have never noticed it. How observant is she!

So this is not really a post about SL, but the Anywhere Door sparked sweet childhood memory for me, and I thought I should pass on this knowledge to the *cough* young generation nowadays. LOL

My generation remembers the Anywhere Door as Dokodemodoa…which translates to…well, Anywhere Door. Haha! (Dokodemo = anywhere, Doa = broken English, ‘Door’).

So I went back to D!va to find this Dokodemo Doa and crawled into it…all the while singing this song. LOL

(Warning: If you do understand Japanese and are 1) allergic to ‘babytalk’ or 2) allergic to super-kawaiiness, this song is going to grate on your nerve!)

Time has indeed changed and Doraemon’s recent theme song is much more sophisticated than the cutesy-baby-talk version.

Berry’s Proportion Challenge

Woah. Berry posted a loaded challenge this week. A quick babble before I get on to the challenge:

My first week in SL, I changed my slider into my RL height. That quickly became a problem. You see, I’m 5ft in RL…on a good day. On a particularly cold day, I swear I shrink about 4 inches or so. XD

I’m already shorter than almost everyone I know. My 10 year old nephew is taller than me! Transfer this to SL, where everyone seems to be the lovechild of an Amazonian Goddess and Olympus Titan, then you can see how being a Midget Bridget would not work for me in the long run. Somehow, being 5ft is not standard in SL and I found myself sinking into a lot of old furnitures.

Most things in SL is bigger than life…so I caved in and made myself taller.

And yet at 6.3ft, I’m still shorter than most in SL!

Proportions Challenge Questions:

Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above? – I tried in the beginning. I used the Ruined Proportionator by Vaelissa Cortes. An overview on how to use it is here. Basically you get a box prim and resize it to enclose the shape of your head, and then the box will rezz several of your ‘head size’ prims relative to your height. And using the guide, just link enough prims for your other body parts, using it as a more or less accurate ruler, since the measurement is based on your head size.

Wow, am I making sense here?

And then when I started to feel comfortable wearing mesh clothing, I mod my body every now and again, and I haven’t had time to see if they are correctly proportioned.

What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? No opinion so far, yet to try one. This question is about about avatar made from mesh, right? I’m assuming that mesh avatar cannot be modified…so…

Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? – Not so much ‘bother me’, more accurately to say it pique my curiosity. Lately, I have seen a lot these shape going around as I travel the grid: short female avatars, with smaller boobs, big booties and short torso. I don’t know what that shape or subculture is officially called, but I personally don’t think it’s proportionate. HOWEVER,  I have to admit, I find this shape strangely sexy and alluring!

Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? Nope, this is Second Life, what’s the point of being in a virtual world that closely mimics the real world? There are plenty of human avatars that are proportionate. With the ability to TP wherever, one does not need to be anywhere where the whole place is filled with disproportionate human avis, if one is so prone to be annoyed by disproportion. I can fly in SL, and I set up house with a click, so I’m all for everyone being whatever and looking however they like in their virtual environment. ;)

Zee is not ignoring you!

I came out of ‘Busy’ mode today and boom, my screen got flooded with IMs. Haha. I love the love, thank you so much, but I think I have to explain the ‘mode’ since it seems to be I’m always on it!

I’m not ignoring anyone. I pop on a ‘Busy’ or ‘Autorespond’ mode everytime I’m working on something and shooting it, because I’m taxing my poor old laptop to the limit when I amp up my settings to ultra. 

And everytime an IM comes on while on these settings, it slows my system down about a thousand notches. Exaggeration, yes, but you get my sentiment here. :) 

So if you get a ‘Busy Autorespond’ notification from me, please be patient. I get out of it every hour or so to check my messages, and you will be attended to eventually. ❤ Zee ❤

New Project! Man Den for Zen

All these works in progress…

So, I’m supposed to be setting my place up for my little housewarming party on Monday night…

…I’m also supposed to do a follow up post to this post and show you the rest of my house…

…but I got distracted by a memo from {what next} announcing their Splash Floating Lounger for Zodiac Event. Like an ever ready {what next} soldier…when they send out the call, I come a-running.

(Yes. I have issues.)

Just as I was looking around for the lounger inworld, Zento announced that he too has decided to set up house. Hmm. I guess nesting instinct is rubbing off on people around me. :P

He even got the house all ready to go and, get this…this is the most important part: If I would help fix it up for him.

You’re effing kidding, right? What a silly question! You’re giving me a decorating project? Bring it awn!

This is the preview of what I’ll be working on soon-ish. It’s a grungier prefab than what I would have chosen for myself, and the lighting I used is also not what I would usually go for. But I was under strict instruction not to girly-fied the place or the photo. -_-

Oh, he of little faith.

Surprisingly, this prefab is The Little Warehouse by 22769. I had no idea they do homes too, but Zen even got a couple of home items when he bought this prefab, so I should check them out soon. 22 prims and 44 Li, not too bad at all!

It’s very spacious and I can’t wait to lay my hands on it to help him decorate it!

I look forward to Fifty Linden Friday every week.

I mean, how else can I afford my insane prefabs and homewares addiction and not mortgage the house?

As usual, I grabbed Melinda Palianta and we trailed around the grid, picking up things we possibly won’t need had it not been 50L.

Second Spaces offered three sets of Scraps Table in various colour schemes. That threw me off. For one minute. Before I decided, hey, 50L, why not get all?

So I did and that is how I ended up with 6 tables.

I know, this isn’t really ‘freebies’ per say, but it is cheapies. Most of you probably know about this store. She has a bunch of hunts up (2 or 3?) and I believe there 10L-15L each gift. I have already spent over 200L at her store for hunts alone! My favorite hunt is the Love Mommy 2013 hunt. It is full of some beautiful top quality clothes.

I am probably going to be posting an outfit with hunt gifts from this store, so look out for an update on that sometime today or tomorrow.

I cannot for the life of me find numbers 1-13 of the LMH where you find the pink hearts (not the 2013 one). I’ve found 13-20 but I can’t find the first lot. Anyone know where they are?

Oh damn, sorry guys. When I did this, it was about a month or two back…and it was free then. Unless my memory fails me. Maybe they decided to price it now that the hunt period is officially over. Gaaah.

Xanthe ran a thread that asked a question we wished never got asked. Ever.

The resulting replies so far have been hilarious. It’s fun when everyone take it in good sport. ;)

This was my contribution: 

I wished I had saved a snapshot of my first profile pic. Being an organized freak and a constant purger, I had deleted it…and the pic on the left is the only remnant of my noob look. 

It was pretty bad. All I did was tweaked the skin I was given when I first signed in. LOL. I think everything on me in that pic, except the hair, was free. 

Fast forward to the second week, and the picture on the right is how I looked. New hair, new outfit and most importantly: new body and skin. Amazingly, this one is only 10L. A freaking complete avatar for 10L, people!

So if you’re new and happen to read this right now, and if you have 10L to spare, get cho ass to .::DELISH::. and spoil yourself with lots of 10L skin selections. The one I used was Haley. You’ll need to do a bit of tweaking, but it’s good practice for when you can finally afford a plastic surgery. ;) 

I upgraded my looks so quickly, thanks to the help I got from more experienced Residents. I can never thank them enough. They took the time and effort to help me out. I looked like a proper SLer in my third week that people thought I was an alt. 

Zee is no alt, Zee was just lucky to have met some very awesome people! 

And it occured to me. The people that saw me in my rawest, noobish state…

Oh god, he has seen my noob face. BWAHAHA! Kill me now. Well, he has seen me in the rawest and yet he is still around, not doing badly then am I?

…they loved me then. And they still love me now.

Even if I had stayed in my noob look, I think that is enough for me. :)

I wished I had pictures taken with Olivia Catherine, another one who has been so helpful from day dot. If you read this, Olivia, I miss you and our loooong chat. :)

Do you guys remember the first outfit you ever saved? Do you even keep your old outfits?

I remember mine. This was the very first outfit I put together when I joined SL 2 years ago. The entire outfit (hair, skin and all) was completely free…because I had no money…

I used to think this was hot. Dear god what was I thinking?

Much like Hero, I cannot for the life of me remember my logins to access my original SL account from almost 9 years ago but I’m 2.5 years old now. I had lost the ability to run the viewers for nearly a year after I rezzed in my current incarnation, and this was me when I was able to finally login again, 1 year and 6 days old, still wearing the oddness that is utterly splendiferous to n00bs everywhere..

It has been a long and busy day and didn’t get home til late. Here, we are catching up for a bit before calling it a day…on my new LISP Tree Seat. Get it here at Collabor88! Or go to LISP main store.

I wasn’t going to spend on Collabor88 this week as I’m holding on to my L$ for Summerfest and TLC The Garden …but Melinda made me. She is so bad for my SLwallet. Instead of blaming my lack of willpower, I’m just going to blame her. That is my excuse and I’m sticking with it!

Which was the last sim you visited? (Other than your home)   The Forever sim, to use the Secret Sandbox. Which isn’t that much of a secret now that I’m revealing where I usually tinker with projects. Haha. I like it there because it’s huge, people leave me alone most times, griefers are dealt with promptly and one of the administrators is always around to answer questions.

Does your avatar look like the real you? Skin and hair colour wise, yes. I tend to buy and wear only black hair, and fair skin. Other than that, not so much!

Do you wear underwear/panties underneath your clothing when out and about on the grid? I never used to…until a friend pointed out that if I sit a certain way, my kitty cat shows.  Still, I now only wear undies when I’m wearing a dress or skirt, otherwise I don’t bother. And unless someone is camming in real close, they probably won’t realize it. So the question is…how would one know whether I am wearing it or not, right? And why were you camming up my skirt?!?

If you won a million linden dollars, what would be the first thing you buy inworld? More furnitures, which will mean more prefabs to house them. Actually, a more accurate answer will be to buy a SIM so I can put up ALL my prefabs. And then never ever leave that SIM because I’d be too busy building. YES.

Have you ever bought something in SL and then realized afterwards that you had already owned it from before? Ah, so far, not yet. I’m an organized nerd in RL, and my SL inventory is organized. I sort out once a week, and even have a list of everything I own. I kid you not. The only doubles I have in my inventory are gacha items. Envy me, humans!

Have you ever done anything in Second Life that would be considered illegal in real life? Prostitution is illegal in my part of the world and so…I’m kidding! No, I haven’t done anything out of ordinary, even in SL. I’m boring that way.

If you could go out on a date with any other avatar, who would it be? Ah, I haven’t been in SL that long yet to form this opinion. But if I have to pick, it’ll be Jay Tedder Murs. I have been ogling all his interior decorating photos.

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done inworld? Ending up naked and losing my legs in NCI Kuula during my super noob days. Fortunately, the folks there were understanding of my noobiness and directed me to the changeroom, even gave me a quick tutorial on how to dress myself. I was mortified.

If your avatar had a mind of its own, what do you think it would say to you? “No, you do not need another prefab. How many houses do you  need, you only have a little plot of  land!” Naturally, I won’t listen.

Casa Zee: Part 1

My favourite thing to do in SL is playing the interior decorator. Others have clothes addictions, but I have this insane addiction for homestuffs.

I’d wear the same outfit to death, til kingdom come, but I have played around with way too many structures and prefabs. Currently, this is my favourite. I love big and open structure…

The Malibu House by inVerse came fully furnished, but I dismantled nearly everything so that I can put my own furnitures in. :) Weeks later, I am still madly in love with this house!

I have cartographilia so naturally I would reflect that in my SL house. XD The Antique World Map is from Taff Nouvelle Marketplace.

My Linebreeze Easeful Couch from »Kazza« can sit 15 people…not that I think I will ever have 15 people trampling around my house, but still! Plus, the textures of the couch, cushions and rugs are customizable…so why not, right?

Now, this Grand Piano from LISP is FAB. I love it! It is playable, and you’ll find yourself an expert in it, Kevin MacLeod-style.

Whenever I come home from a gridwide shopping spree, I put the piano on and sit myself on the Old Glory Mayfair Trunk from {what next}…and so whenever I feel like groaning at the state of my inventory, I just listen to the music and think "It is ok." XD

The Paperdoll Mannequin next to the piano is also from {what next}.

Speaking of {what next}…

I’m a sunbaby. A solar powered human. I am happiest during the day when the sun is out, and in summer when daylight is long.

So I decided to position the breakfast table where it will catch the first light each morning.

Best feeling on Sunday mornings, basking in the sun while sipping coffee and eating breakfast with your honey. ;)

The Porch Swing is from Alouette, and only available from The Arcade June Gacha Events.

Phew, this was a lot of work and I’m going to rest for a bit.
